Dobaal’s story is interesting. After screwing up the IIT-JEE, he still managed to get Elec B. Tech at IIT Madras. For four years he learnt Electrical engineering and when it was all over, he could never get to use it anywhere. After passing out in 2005, he joined CapOne in US which marked his entry into the world of finance. After one and a half years he shifted to HSBC as an (assistant) Vice President of the Credit Card Department. And then he did something that many don’t do. He came back to India to start his own company IndiaKhelo, which shall soon be launched (November 2008). But something happened between the last job and this would-be launch. Uday Grover, better known as Gabbar in IIT Madras passed out in 2003 with a B. Tech in Metallurgical and Material Sciences. After graduating from IIT, he worked for two years in a Management Consulting firm in Mumbai. Incidentally, the company had bumped most of the MBAs from his batch to end up taking him. Gabbar finally quit the job to begin his own entrepreneurship adventure. He runs his business in Chennai. In the Phres IITians series, he talks about the things he liked about IIT and gives gyaan from all he learnt and saw after stepping outside IIT.

Sandeep Reddy Chillakuri, popularly known as Indra at IIT Madras passed out in 2006 with a B. Tech in Civil Engineering. Indra, or myndfcukd as he calls himself, is single and works in his home town of Hyderabad for Deloitte Consulting as a management consultant. Nakul Laad graduated from IIT Madras in 2007 with a B. Tech in metallurgical and material science engineering. He took up a core job and makes loads of money working in Dubai. Back in IIT, he served as a core group member of IIT Madras’ technical festival Shaastra. Aravind, popularly known as Mallu in IIT Madras, is a final year dual degree student pursuing Chemical Engineering. He is a wonderful football player and is the present institute sports secretory. He got placed in Shell on day zero of placements, which he believes is the best thing that ever happened to him in his entire IIT life.
